Baked Ham

Mix together 1 ½ cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp. horseradish
1 ½ tsp. dry mustard
1 ½ tsp. black pepper
Rub into a half of a dried ham with the bone loosened but not removed.

Place in a roasting pan, cover with 1 quart of half and half and bake in a 350 dregee over for an hour. After the ham is removed, the milk can be thickened for gravy.

Cabbage Salad

2 cups shredded cabbage
1 cup minced celery
3 Tbsp. chopped sweet green pepper
2 Tbsp. chopped walnuts
Sour Cream Dressing
1 cup sour cream
1/4 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. sugar

Mix cabbage, celery and pepper with dressing. Arrange on plates and sprinkle with nuts.

Apple John

In a greased cast iron skillet, place 7 cups of sliced apples,
sprinkled with 1cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. nutmeg
2 Tbsp. flour
1/4 cup water
Dot with 2 Tbsp. butter.

In a separate bowl beat 1 egg with 1 cup of half and half and add to:
2 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar

Mix well. Batter will be thick. Spoon large dollops of batter over the sugared apples. Place cast iron skillet in a 350 degree oven for 45 – 60 minutes or until apples are tender.
