Oriental Pasta

Sr. Barbara's Oriental Pasta

6 oz. Thin String Pasta (Vermicelli works best)
6 cups boiling water
1 1/2 tsp. salt

3 cups thinly slice purple cabbage
1 8 oz. can water chestnuts, drained
1 stalk celery, thinly sliced
1 red or yellow pepper, thinly sliced
1 cup mushrooms, thinly sliced
2 green onions, thinly sliced

Dressing

3 Tbsp. rice vinegar
1 Tbsp. sherry
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. sesame seed oil
2 tsp. sesame seeds

Cook pasta in boiling water and salt in large saucepan for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender but firm. Drain. Rinse with cold water. drain. Place in large bowl. Add next six ingredients. Mix.

For the dressing - combine all ingredients in small bowl. Whisk together. (It makes about 1/2 cup.) Pour over salad. Toss well. May be served immediately or served cold.
