A Fresh New Look

Did you know that the “Our Daily Bread” cooking show hosted by Fr. Paul D. Seil has been airing on WKBW-TV Ch. 7 since 1996! Originally it hosted by two women religious. Fr. Paul made a few, (seven to be exact) guest appearances on the show before taking over the host position in 2002. Since then, he has hosted 135 shows!

The show has often made some adjustments such as: changing hosts, graphic updates, music updates, set changes, and this year is no different. We have recently updated the shows Open and Bumps. Bumps In and Out are short video segments, usually less than ten seconds in length, that leads a viewer into, or guides them back from, a commercial break.

Ashley Czarnota, Videographer/Editor at Daybreak, created a Motion Graphic template in computer program called After Effects. “It took me about a week to create the new ‘Our Daily Bread’ Open and Bumps,” Ashley admits. “It was my first time using this program and I am very happy with the outcome. Since a template was made, I will be able to customize the Open for each show. This means that in essence, each ‘Our Daily Bread’ program will have a fresh new Open, featuring the day’s guest and recipes!” Check out Ashley’s work on the Daybreak YouTube Channel, where entire “Our Daily Bread” shows can be viewed!

And remember to set the DVR’s for the next few months! Because of College Football, “Our Daily Bread” will air the second Saturday of each month at 6:30 a.m. ONLY on WKBW-TV Ch. 7!!! This will last until January when College Football ends its season.

Get your Daily Inspiration from the Daily Gospel and Homily

The Daily Mass is recorded each weekday morning (excluding certain holidays and Holy days) in the Our Lady Chapel of St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Buffalo. The Mass can be seen weekdays at Noon and 6:05 p.m. on Spectrum Cable channel 20.

But, did you know that the day’s gospel and homily are then uploaded and shared via social media? By doing this, we hope to bring the word of God to even more people in the world. This way of sharing the gospel is not meant to replace the pastoral ministry of prayer and visitation to a church building, but is meant as an addition to it.

Each weekday’s gospel and homily are posted on Daybreak’s Facebook page, Twitter page and YouTube Channel.

They are also shared with the social media outlets for the Diocese of Buffalo. So check in each day for your daily inspiration.

“Campus Chat”

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to sit down with a Bishop and chat, just chat, about whatever’s on your mind? What would you ask him?

“Campus Chat with Bishop Richard J. Malone” is a half hour program that allows college students the opportunity to do just that; to sit down with Buffalo’s spiritual leader and chat; no scripts, no pretenses, no judgements, just honesty.

In this first episode, Bishop Malone traveled to Canisius College, in Buffalo, New York. There, he met with a group of 15 students, who quickly opened up and felt no qualms about talking to the Bishop regarding topics such as: forgiveness, God’s love and prayer.

If you want to sit in on the chat, tune in, Saturday, August 12th at 6:30AM and noon on WKBW-TV Channel 7, to watch “Campus Chat with Bishop Richard J. Malone.”

Daily Reflections

Through the Catholic Communications Campaign, the USCCB provides daily scripture readings in text and audio form. They also provide a short web video titled “Daily Reflections” where approximately 13,000 viewers go each day to receive a meaning message regarding the day’s scripture reading.

The Diocese of Buffalo, through Daybreak TV Productions, has been providing “Daily Reflections” for the USCCB website since 2007.
