“Campus Chat”

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to sit down with a Bishop and chat, just chat, about whatever’s on your mind? What would you ask him?

“Campus Chat with Bishop Richard J. Malone” is a half hour program that allows college students the opportunity to do just that; to sit down with Buffalo’s spiritual leader and chat; no scripts, no pretenses, no judgements, just honesty.

In this first episode, Bishop Malone traveled to Canisius College, in Buffalo, New York. There, he met with a group of 15 students, who quickly opened up and felt no qualms about talking to the Bishop regarding topics such as: forgiveness, God’s love and prayer.

If you want to sit in on the chat, tune in, Saturday, August 12th at 6:30AM and noon on WKBW-TV Channel 7, to watch “Campus Chat with Bishop Richard J. Malone.”

Sunday Televised Mass

The Sunday Televised Mass is recorded in the Our Lady Chapel of St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Buffalo. This Mass airs on WUTV-Fox 29 at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings and at various times on cable during the week.

Daybreak records 52 Sunday Masses in 4 four weeks throughout the year. This involves turning the Our Lady Chapel into a studio and the closet outside the chapel into a control room. Cameras, computers, a switcher, lights, microphones, an audio board are all brought to the Cathedral and set up to record between 13-and 15 Masses in one week.

We could not complete such a task if it weren’t for the priests, deacons, lectors and music ministers who help us, not to mention the rector and staff of St. Joseph Cathedral who gracious allow us to be in the Chapel for a week at a time!
When the recording is complete, it’s back to the studio where editing and closed captioning is done. Then dubs are made and the Mass is sent out to local cable companies and nursing homes.

The Sunday Televised Mass is not meant to replace the pastoral ministry of prayer and visitation in a parish, but as an addition to it. This ministry brings the liturgy into the homes of those who may not otherwise be able to physically attend a Mass.
