Our Lady of Fatima

The world-famous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Fatima was sculpted by José Thedim in 1947. In March of 2016 the Virgin Statue of Fatima began two-year journey across America, commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima.

This statue which has traveled to more than 100 countries made its way to the Diocese of Buffalo, New York in December 2016. Daybreak TV Productions team member Ashley Czarnota, spent some time at Corpus Christi Church, in front of the statue.

“When I heard this Pilgrim Virgin Statue was coming to Buffalo, I was excited to document the experience. I remember the church being filled with pilgrims praying before Our Lady. It was very moving,” confesses Ashley.

“As I thought about recording this event, I came upon an editing technique called Hyperlapse video and felt it would be an interesting way to showcase the Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady. Hyperlapse video is a technique where a series of still photos are taken and edited together in order to create a tracking shot in a time-lapse sequence. It took me one full day to photograph the statue, taking over 300 still photos. The editing was tedious and took about 2 days, but I was very happy with the result!” This video can be seen on the Daybreak YouTube Channel.
