With your Help, We give Hope
2/3/2012 10:21:31 AM by Jim White

Daybreak has produced a ten-minute video for Catholic Charities. The video features three people who were positively affected by various Catholic Charities programs.

Titled “With your help, we give hope”, the program includes interviews in Daybreak’s studio, along with footage from the interviewee’s environments.

The project was headed up by Daybreak producer Bob Karaszewski, who also worked on the Catholic Charities video that won a 2011 Bronze Telly Award. “The title of the video really identifies what Catholic Charities is all about: creating life-changing circumstances in the people it serves,” Karaszewski said.

The first interview was with war veteran, Mike Evans.(project Hope- helping older people excel). Mr. Evans was facing an eviction from an apartment neglected by the landlord coupled with a serious incident with carbon monoxide poisoning and pneumonia. Catholic Charities helped him find and move into a new safe residence as well as improve his health.

Stephanie Potts was having financial issues due to losing her job and found WIC, (Women, Infants and Children) who helped her with basic necessities for a newborn baby. She also found employment with the WIC nutrition program.

Aaron Dozier, who was injured and unemployed, found assistance with the Workforce Development & Education (GED/employment skills) program at Catholic Charities. Dozier received his high school equivalency diploma and found work at ECMC while pursuing his college degree.

During his seven years in the Diocese of Buffalo Bishop Edward U. Kmiec has celebrated quite a few Masses, many of which Daybreak TV Productions have recorded.

On October 30, 2011 Bishop Edward U. Kmiec celebrated 50 years as a priest, 29 years as a bishop and seven years as shepherd for the Diocese of Buffalo. The honor was highlighted at the jubilee Mass held at St. Joseph Cathedral.

Daybreak videotaped the Mass and have made the celebration available on DVD.

Along with Bishop Kmiec, there were 12 bishops who attended the celebration, some of whom were his classmates in Rome. Also at the Mass were fellow priests, women religious and lay faithful.

Bishop Kmiec turned 75 on June 4th 2011, and as prescribed by Canon Law, he submitted his letter of resignation to Pope Benedict XVI. There is no timetable for the announcement of the next Bishop of the Diocese of Buffalo.
