Proving Holiness is a one-hour documentary about the process of becoming a saint. The documentary examines the rich history of sainthood, reaching back into the earliest days of the Catholic Church, when martyrs were prevalent under the Roman Empire. Daybreak TV Productions brings a myriad of talent to the project, featuring narration by Hollywood star Martin Sheen and a score of local talent brought in for voice-over and music composition.

Proving Holiness has won its first award, the "Certificate for Creative Excellence" from the 2008 US International Film and Video Festival. It was entered under the category of Religion, Ethics and Humanities Production: Documentary. Proving Holiness broadcast on WNED Channel.

Daybreak TV Productions has recently distributed Proving Holiness to parishes, schools and religious orders. Over 300 DVD’s were sent out for educational use. Daybreak was awarded a $6,000 grant to fund the distribution.

Daybreak TV Productions found local talent eager to participate in the production of Proving Holiness. This was also true for the premiere of the documentary on All Saints Day (Nov. 1) at the Montante Center in Buffalo, N.Y. Music composer John Adamo arranged for an opening ceremony performed by Jena Abati, of Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, accompanied by Beata Golec, of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester.

Producer Michele Barone, Videographer John Epolito and Associate Producer Mason Winterhalter will travel to El Paso, Texas for the 65th annual Tekakwitha Conference. Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha is one of the candidates featured in Daybreak’s upcoming documentary on the canonization process of saints.

Daybreak TV Productions and Crosswater Digital Media have teamed up once again, this time on the Proving Holiness documentary. Since the pair last worked together, Crosswater’s headquarters in Buffalo, NY has undergone significant upgrades. Daybreak and Crosswater recorded Andre Braugher’s voice-over for the documentary Enduring Faith (winner of a 2000 Telly Award) and knew they could rely on the ISDN line (integrated services digital network) to record Martin Sheen’s narration for Proving Holiness.

Martin Sheen’s knowledge of Catholic doctrine made him an ideal choice to narrate the Proving Holiness documentary. The hour-long documentary produced by Daybreak TV Productions explains the canonization process, and will air Mon. December 3rd at 9:30 p.m. on WNED Channel 17.
